Fireworks and Smores

Our neighbors, the Hakes, bought a few fireworks and were nice enough to share with us! We got out the fire pit and toasted some marshmallows for s'mores. Everything went well until a firework went a little crazy and spun around and shot out the fireworks instead of up. One landed near our garden and did no harm, but another landed in the tall grasses of our neighbors (who were luckily out of town - house hunting as they had sold their house) and caught fire! Luckily, we were able to put it out with only minor damage, that wasn't immediately evident. ;)

July 4th Weekend Swimming!

As always, we had a great time swimming with the Shoemakers. We brought out the big squirt guns today and the kids got a kick out of them. :)

Argh! Matey!

Grampy (Chris' dad) developed a partially detached retina and had to have urgent eye surgery this week. He got an eye patch and everything, so we started calling him Blackbeard Grampy. To cheer him up, the kids put on their pirate hats for some pictures. :)

Adelyn wasn't such a fan. ;)
